Not sure what to get the flower lover in your life?

Whether your loved one is a fully-fledged florist or just has a passing interest in hobby arranging, we’ve got something for everyone this Christmas. Keep scrolling to check out some of our top picks for giving Bloom this festive season!

Feed Your Soul With Flowers

flowers book

Feed Your Soul with Flowers is the first book by Bloom College founder, Yvette Timmins. In it, Yvette explores the process of healing emotional pain through the art and therapy of flower arranging. Yvette’s passion for the energy of flowers and the intense effect they can have on our lives is infectious, as she walks you through ten principles for creating and sustaining good mental health, accompanied by relevant flower arrangement guides for each step. The book includes many beautiful images captured by photographer Brodie Seals. After the tumultuous events of the last few years, Feed Your Soul With Flowers is a breath of fresh air as you learn to process your emotions alongside nature.

An Online Floristry Course

If your gift receiver is looking to get a little more serious with floristry, we have a range of courses to suit florists of every skill level (even total beginners). Two of our most popular courses for those just getting started are Bloom Basics and Flower Fundamentals.

Bloom Basics

This is the perfect beginner starting point for hobby flower arranging at home. Students can use all the skills and knowledge they will learn in this course to feed their inner creativity during this detailed video tutorial course. This course included nine beginner floristry video tutorials and an accompanying e-book with step-by-step guides.

Flower Fundamentals

This introductory online beginners course has been designed for those wanting to enter the commercial floristry industry. The course includes ten video demonstrations, three e-books, and additional guides and information to help students get started by learning foundational skills and arrangement techniques. Also included are five bonus video tutorials covering essential floristry knowledge to help with arranging, and how to source the best and freshest blooms!

A Thrive Course

Our sister school, Thrive Flower School, is already taking applicants for next year’s classes, including a course on arranging naturally dried flowers and the in-person Beyond The Basics course. These courses will be held at Thrive’s Moorabbin and Collingwood studios, so if your flower-loving loved one is Melbourne based, they’re going to be over the moon with this.

Naturally Dried Flower Course

After many years of creating large-scale, dried flower installations across Melbourne, Thrive has adapted some of these features into smaller works of art. This 5-week course takes students through a number of everlasting arrangements, including a bouquet, an arrangement in a ceramic pot, a glass cloche, a wreath and some wall art. This course also teaches how to dry your own flowers at home.

This 5-week course will take place in Thrive’s Moorabbin studio, with a 2-hour class each week. All flowers & equipment are included in the course and the flowers and containers are all yours to take home, enjoy and re-use.

Beyond The Basics

With more advanced designs, Beyond the Basics is the next step in floristry training (after completing the Flower Basics course). However, it is also well suited to those wanting to refresh the skills they gained from prior experience. A diverse assortment of arrangements is covered, including a table centrepiece, a large bouquet, an urn arrangement, a fabulous flower hat box, perfect for gifting and a flower crown, all using stunning locally sourced seasonal materials.

We hope this list helps make your holiday shopping easier! Speaking as lovers of flowers ourselves, there’s nothing better than receiving something you know you’ll get a lot of use out of. Literally, any of the gifts above will put a big smile on your loved one’s face come Christmas Day.
